You see this? This is not two cars, y’all. This is one car split into two pieces.

This happened here a few days ago.

This car was driving along on the west bound side of the freeway, and a van cut them off, caused them to swerve hard then lose control of the car, and they ended up on the east bound side of the freeway getting hit by two other cars. Hard. At a high speed. The car exploded and split into two pieces. Yes, someone died. The driver lived (so far) but his passenger/wife was thrown from the car and run over and died. Everyone else involved survived, including the one who cut them off. They fled and haven’t been found.

Oh yeah, and here’s the other two cars involved, both of which were forced to slam into the other one:

All that because someone cut someone off on the interstate. Do not do that. Ever. Please.

Mel tells me my vacation is over and that people miss me so I guess I’ll come back.  It’s just been hell getting back into the swing of things since coming home.  For one thing John’s truck is in the shop so he’s having to drive my car to work so that leaves me afoot and that just kills my entire lifestyle.  Why is John’s truck in the shop? That JACKASS little John wrecked it the second day we were gone.  So we had that to think about for 2 weeks when we were supposed to be having this wonderful vacation.  Of course he wasn’t hurt so I can be somewhat flip about the whole thing but suffice it to say he doesn’t live with us anymore.

OK first place we went to visit was the Crazy Horse Monument in South Dakota.

This is absolutely amazing.  They have no federal grants or government help, the Sioux are doing this all on their own with nothing but donations and whatever they make from tourism.  They were blasting not 15 minutes before we went up there on a school bus I wouldn’t let my kids ride and trust me, I always wanted my kids in school. They estimate it will take another 45 years or so to get the monument finished and it should look like this:

Of course it won’t be white I don’t think because the mountain is red granite which is only fitting I would say.  Hopefully tourism will stay good and the donations will roll in so they’ll be finished ahead of time which would be nice.  Our bus driver told us he took KISS up a week or so before we were there so hopefully they left a few family jewels…

Anywho I’ll try to get a post up daily as it was a long ass trip so I’ll have something to write about at least, LOL.  Missed y’all!!!

    Oops!
    Did y’all read about this?
“California wildlife officials say two men are in custody after a group of marijuana growers started to toss bags full of pot into a pickup truck belonging to game wardens they mistook for their suppliers.”

    Haha!

    Here’s the full article.

to “Shut the crap up and get the hell away from me!!!!” That was my answer to his question “Is there anything I can do to help?”

    He was taken aback.

I was just playing, and I hope he believed me when I told him so.
I like my boss. A lot. I have mad respect for the man.

See, around my house, statements like that are simply terms of endearment.

On a side note but also about work: Today before 5 p.m. we broke our monthly record on our news website with 8 million pageviews and 680,000 unique visitors. Not bad for a small fish in a big pond! I heard there would be beer if we hit 8 million, but it was lies, I tell you, LIES!!!

I was supposed to go get the sonogram and mammogram today. Originally they scheduled me for 11:30 for the sonogram and 1:00 for the mammogram, just across the street from the location of the sonogram. Then they rescheduled the sonogram to 10:00, so I figured I’d just grab lunch or something while I waited between appointments, and took the whole day off work.

They told me to have a full bladder, but I forgot about that before I left the house, so I had to buy water *grumble grumble*.
This is the only option I found, SmartWater.

$1.59 for a bottle of water. That’s not very smart.

Checking in at the hospital, I was surprised to see they now give you pagers, like at a busy restaurant:

But I didn’t have to wait long at all. I was called back within 10 minutes and immediately the sonogram was started. It was painful because I had to pee so bad I felt like my bladder would bust every time she moved that thing around on me. I was finished by 10:40.

Well I didn’t want to drive all the way back home, and I was near the mall, so I called my sister who lives nearby and we did a little shopping. :)
She decided to go to my mammogram with me at 1:00.

And that’s where the trouble was.

We walk into the office for the mammogram and find it so crowded that there was not one available seat. I checked in and the lady hands me a ton of paperwork to fill out. Which I started doing standing up. I thought, surely someone will be called back soon and I can sit down and do this. But after about half the paperwork was finished, nobody had been called back yet. I asked a girl near me how long she had been there, and she said since 11:00. I asked when her appointment was, she said “11:30, and they told me to be here half an hour early.” And it was now 1:15? The lady across from her said “I’ve been here since 10:00.” WHAT?

So I went up to the desk and asked the lady there how long I could expect to wait. She said, with an “I’m sorry” look on her face “A few hours.” WHAT?

I immediately said, “I want to reschedule for the next available date that I can have THE FIRST appointment time.” I refuse to wait for hours at for an appointment that was scheduled far in advance. This is not a walk-in. This is an appointment. They expect me to be early and I expect to be seen on time, or at least very soon after. So that’s been rescheduled to Sept. 10 at 7:15 a.m.

See, that’s my pet peeve, right there. Why do so many doctors overbook? What makes them schedule 10 people for the same time? Do they think my time is not as valuable as theirs? Then they have the gall to tell people to be EARLY???? WHAT??????????

    Cute

As I mentioned before, I have very painful menstrual cycles. Very painful, like labor contractions. I went to the doctor last week, finally, but I decided to go to a new doctor…. something about the last one saying “let’s rip it all out” made me not trust her. Even though I was of the mindset that I wanted it all taken out, to be done with my 30 years of pain… something about being on hormone replacements for the rest of my life made me pause and go for the second opinion.

This new doctor said the only way she would do a hysterectomy on me is if she found a tumor or cancer or endometriosis, and she didn’t expect me to have any of those. She said I was too healthy, healthy heart, healthy lungs, normal blood pressure, to get cut open just to end the period pains. She suspects the cause of my pain is a tilted uterus.

So tomorrow I’m going for a half a day at the hospital for a sonogram and the annual mammogram. After she sees the sonogram results, then we’ll decide what to do. But she tells me there are several options for making my periods lighter and pretty much pain-free, including some treatment that’s been used in Europe for awhile but just recently approved here. My sister tells me that the hospital I’m going to has a new kind of mammogram, too, that’s more comfortable and more accurate.

Enough to show everyone who reads this what I look like when I first wake up.
I dare you to do the same. Come on, don’t be a chicken. Do it first thing in the morning, and trackback here.
If I can do it, you can do it. I mean, LOOK AT ME! Nobody can look worse than this in the morning.
    It’s a double-dog-dare.
I’ve decided I’m not brushing my hair today. And that’s ok.

UPDATE: Ok Rich, Corey, JOHN, Skye, Laura, and Diane (when you get back)… where the hell is it?

I really don’t have anything interesting to talk about this week, that’s why I haven’t posted.
Boring things about the past week:

The front brakes on my car started grinding. Hubs replaced the pads yesterday. He used to be a brake and front end mechanic so that was easy enough for him.

I finally got Sara a car. A 99 Toyota Corolla. However, the driver’s seatbelt is pulled all the way out and won’t go back in so I’ll have to get that fixed before she can drive it. Between the two of us, we’ve put 60,000 miles on my car in a year. So I’ll be glad when she’s driving her own car.

Things at work have (finally) been slow. No new web projects, just finishing up old ones. Not much in the way of news, either.

    YAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWN

    Fess up, people
